Narcissistic behaviors originate in fear. Fear of being inadequate, fear of not being able to handle discomfort, fear of feeling out of control, fear of being found out, fear .... lots and lots of fear.
It can be helpful to see narcissistic behaviors as originating in fear because when we see them as fear based, we take the behaviors much less personally.
